Coast Town Events Limited in association with Shadow Management and ArranPaul are very proud to present the fifth annual Coast Town event at Blackpool’s magnificent Arena within the Winter Gardens. Twelve hours of skankin’ rhythms – a one day event running from noon until midnight on Saturday 15th of September featuring a very careful selection of seven of the best SKA bands from across the UK and Europe all contributing to raising funds for the National Stroke Association.
For this year’s event we extend the international feel with Spanish sensations the Freeska Ensemble bringing in the big horns with Skatalite inspired cool Ska rhythms plus the welcome return of Bang the Skillet direct from Holland providing a heady mix of Ska, Reggae and Calypso that is guaranteed to get you moving.
Following their Coast Town debut last year, we welcome back The Skapones crossing the Pennines again and turning up the 2 Tone dial to 11 for maximum dancing. Making their Coast Town debut we have King Hammond & The Rude Boy Mafia featuring former Nick Welsh, formerly of 2 Tone acts The Selecter and Bad Manners.
Few musicians can lay claim to influencing a generation, but Roddy ‘Radiation’ Byers is one of them. As lead guitarist with The Specials he helped write the soundtrack to the 2 Tone generation penning such classic songs as Rat Race, Hey Little Rich Girl and Concrete Jungle. Roddy will be performing all of these hits plus many more with his band The Skabilly Rebels at Coast Town 2018.
To keep the party going Blackpool favourites Ska Face will be back on home turf flying the flag for Blackpool with their renditions of iconic dance floor hits from the 2 Tone era. Keeping with the northern theme, we have from Manchester, Jeramiah Ferrari with their infectious fusion of Reggae, Rock, Ska and Punk delivering a truly memorable and essential new sound. Brought up on a diet of Bob Marley, Toot and the Maytals and Sublime, the band have brought their own unique brand of dancing Reggae-Ska to the festival stages and they will be back in Blackpool at Coast Town 2018 next September.
In addition, there will be a range of three top specialist DJ’s Darren ‘Jedi’ James, Phil ‘The Skafather’ Eccleston and the Easy Skankin’ Crew providing a backdrop of classic Ska, Rocksteady and 2 Tone throughout the night with fringe events also planned across Blackpool’s own coast town. If you love Ska, you don’t want to miss this one…
Standard price wristbands for the event for Coast Town 2018 are priced at £20 with a very limited number of VIP upgrade wristbands which also include a private area overlooking the stage with its own bar and free event t-shirt are also available at £30.
