GEORGE EGG: DIY CHEF is set to be joined by special guest TV star John Thomson during the inaugural Manford’s Comedy Festival at the Winter Gardens Blackpool next month. The DIY cookery show is set to take place on Sunday 12 May at 1pm with tickets on-sale now.
George Egg is a stand-up comedian who cooks surprisingly good food, live on stage using unconventional methods and unexpected equipment. Come and experience a delicious, fun time with this hilarious mix of comedy and cooking.
In GEORGE EGG: DIY CHEF a health scare sees George banished from the family kitchen, but relocated to the garden shed his imagination and resourcefulness lead him to build an improvised kitchen there instead. During an inspiring and inventive afternoon of stand-up, live cooking and comedy lecture George prepares a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner using, amongst other things, a wallpaper stripper, a heat gun, a paper shredder and a whole host of other power tools, office equipment, hair-dressing appliances and gardening implements…. And the audience get to eat the food at the end.
George Egg: DIY Chef was a Sell Out at the 2017 and 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received many 4 and 5 Star rave reviews and now it’s on tour throughout the UK.
George will be joined on stage by the wonderful star of ITVs Cold Feet John Thomson, who will be his assistant and food sampler.
John is an actor, writer, impressionist and comedian, and has been at the forefront of British television for over 20 years. He is best known for his roles in THE FAST SHOW, MEN BEHAVING BADLY and COLD FEET, which returned to our screens last Autumn.
John began his career as an actor and comedy writer on the British satirical series Spitting Image, later going on to work closely with Steve Coogan on such shows as Coogan’s Run, the Paul and Pauline Calf video Diaries and Knowing Me, Knowing You… with Alan Partridge.
He has worked alongside some of Britain’s most popular comedy performers from Steve Coogan and Paul Whitehouse to Martin Clunes to name but a few.
Along the way John Thomson has accrued a number of awards for his work as a stand-up comedian, comedy writer and actor, including a Perrier Comedy Award for his work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival…and now he is coming to Blackpool to join in the fun of the festival…you won’t want to miss this show!
