Blackpool-based ENSEMBLE Theatre will announce an exciting series of shows and plans for the company’s development at the Winter Gardens with a special press event in the venue’s Renaissance Room in February.
Led by Creative Director, Andy Vitolo, the self-funded group has quickly established itself as a leading light in the local musical theatre industry following critically acclaimed performances of West End and Broadway hits including The Addam’s Family, Oliver! and The Sound of Music.
ENSEMBLE’s launch production at the venue, Chicago on 4th April at the Opera House, sold out in a matter of weeks, and its performances for 2020 are set to be prominent features amongst the Winter Garden’s popular and varied programme of events.
Their next show is the much-loved family classic Doctor Dolittle, 9th to 12th July at the Opera House, followed by rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, 30th September to 3rd October (on sale soon) in the Pavilion Theatre - both of which promise to be huge hits. ENSEMBLE’s plans for using the Pavilion Theatre, the Winter Garden’s oldest venue, will be announced at the launch.
Guests at ENSEMBLE’s season launch will be greeted and serenaded by cast members, whilst Andy, a successful actor-director and singer-songwriter, will also be on hand to talk about how he founded ENSEMBLE Theatre to provide a platform for talent of all ages in the local area.
Having directed and produced more than 35 musicals, including UK premieres of Broadway's Dracula and Little Women, and undertaken a wide range of UK tours and stage roles, from Archibald Craven (The Secret Garden) and Henry/Hyde (Jekyll & Hyde) to Frederick (Chess), Andy takes huge pride in nurturing young talent as well as offering opportunities for seasoned local performers.
He said: “Launching a musical theatre company in the heart of my hometown of Blackpool in such a prestigious and beautiful venue as the Winter Gardens has been a dream come true for me. My vision for ENSEMBLE Theatre was to bring together like-minded individuals who are passionate about performing and I am thrilled that we’ve achieved so much in such a short period of time.
“I am incredibly proud of our success so far and this is just the beginning. Securing a base at the Winter Gardens means we have access to a variety of spectacular spaces and therefore enormous scope to be creative with our choice of productions.
“We are delighted to be announcing ENSEMBLE Theatre’s New Season for 2020 at this breath-taking venue – and we have more exciting news to come, so watch this space for further announcements!
Welcome to ENSEMBLE Theatre!”
