2020 at the Winter Gardens has got off to an explosive start with sell-out shows and knock-out performances.
Last weekend saw over 10,000 ticket holders enjoy four amazing events, including three sold out performances of We Will Rock You, A Spanish Hall Ghost Tour, A Night to remember with William Regal and WWE NXT Live!
Another fun weekend is set to fly by as over 2,000 of the UK’s top homing pigeons land at the Winter Gardens for The British Homing World Show of the Year, known locally as the Pigeon Show. The two-day event features 100 trade stands, charity pigeon auctions, raffles for new lofts and the showing and judging of pigeons, and is expected to attract over 25,000 visitors. Meanwhile Indie band the Kaiser Chiefs are getting ready to rock the Empress Ballroom the weekend after along with special guests Razorlight.
Highlights for 2020 include:
Curtains A Musical Whodunnit, 3rd-7th March
An all star cast - including Jason Manford (The Producers, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Guys and Dolls), Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Aduba and Carly Stenson (Les Miserables, Legally Blonde, Shrek, Spamalot and Hollyoaks) – prove that it’s murder putting on a new musical – literally! From the creators of Cabaret and Chicago, this hilarious whodunnit is packed full of catchy songs, unforgettable characters and plot twists.
The Sound of Music, 18th-22nd February
One of the greatest musicals of all time returns to the stage with Emilie Fleming, a finalist in BBC One’s Over the Rainbow with Andrew Lloyd Webber, playing Maria, and Andrew Lancel, Corrie super-villain Frank Foster, as Captain von Trapp.
Burn The Floor, 11th April
With jaw-dropping choreography and ground-breaking moves, Burn the Floor stars Strictly Come Dancing Champions, siblings Kevin Clifton and Joanne Clifton, who are touring together for the very first time. Revel in the emotional power of the Cha Cha, the Samba and Jive, and be left breathless by the smoking, irresistible Rumba.
Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Live Show, 13th-15th July
The Award-Winning Brendan O’Carroll and Mrs Brown’s Boys promises to take audiences on an exhilarating and side-splitting adventure. Brendan O’Carroll said: “It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever written. Even I laugh and I know what’s coming next!” If you haven’t experienced the Mrs. Brown’s Boys live show, this tour is set to be one of the hottest tickets for 2020 and is not to be missed.
Cliff Richard: THE GREAT 80 TOUR, 27th September
Sir Cliff Richard is indisputably one of Britain’s all-time greatest hit-makers with over 60 years in the British music industry. Cliff has staggeringly sold over 250 million albums worldwide achieved 14 number one singles, and 7 number one albums while also having huge success in films, musicals, and television shows. Come and see the legend that is Cliff Richard.
The Hairy Bikers, 9th October
The boys can’t wait to tour again in 2020, and theatre-goers are a huge part of our show, so expect lots of audience participation, along with music, chat, food, questions, answers, fun and frolics. The perfect bikers' night out.
Other top nights out include David Walliam’s Billionaire Boy, Doctor Dolittle, Jason Donovan, Footloose, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Il Divo - and of course the Winter Gardens’ first panto since 1956, Cinderella. And that’s just a tiny snapshot of the sensational line-up for 2020.
