Laura Evans joins the The British Country Music Festival
Hot on the heels of the announcement that The Wandering Hearts will be performing at this years’ British Country Music Festival, organisers have now released the final line-up for 2022 with the addition of Laura Evans to the Saturday night main stage.
Born in the valleys of South Wales, Laura Evans’ love of country, soul and blues music started very early when she listened to old records by Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Bonnie Rait, Faith Hill and more. Laura trained at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School alongside classmates Amy Winehouse and Billy Piper.
In 2014 she released a country EP called Remember When and followed it in 2015 with What’s Left of Me, co-written with country singer-songwriter Brett Detar and producer Jeff Zacharski from Nashville. Her music was featured on season two of the hit TV show Party Down South on CMT.
It has been quite an astounding two years for the Welsh, Nashville loving songstress with the release of her debut EP Running Back To You in 2020 which charted straight at Number 1 on the UK blues chart and peaked at 43 on the US blues chart. It also attracted huge Spotify playlist support and was championed by Absolute Radio, BBC Radio Wales and Planet Rock.
However, 2022 has been a standout year for Laura Evans with the release of her critically acclaimed debut album ‘State Of Mind’ released on 1st July, which topped the iTunes Blues chart at number 1 and made her the face of the Nu Blue editorial playlist on Spotify. It received praise from blues legend Joe Bonamassa, as well as securing continued support on the BBC Radio Wales A List and Planet Rock with rave reviews from the music industry press across the country. The album has now racked up over 500,000 streams on Spotify and continues to climb.
Laura toured with Californian southern rock band ‘Robert Jon & The Wreck’ on their sell out UK Tour in April and her live performances have been described as a ‘girl who is the real deal’. Laura Evans has a stunning voice and the range of styles within the album establish her as a master of blues, contemporary country and associated genres, with a sound that is as individual as Laura herself.
