Transport links and getting around Blackpool

Blackpool has excellent road and rail transport links. For guests travelling from further afield, it is also possible to fly into nearby Manchester Airport, which has exceptional transport links into Blackpool.

Travelling by Road

Blackpool is easily accessible by car and has good links to the UK’s main motorway network.

The M55 is the main motorway into Blackpool. The M55 can easily be reached by exiting the M6 at Junction 32. The M55 leads into the heart of the town centre, which is very close to the resort’s largest car park.

Blackpool is also well served by the UK’s main coach operators. Many operators offer services directly into Blackpool all throughout the year.

Travelling by Rail

Blackpool has excellent rail links. The main resort is served by Blackpool North railway station which features regular inbound trains from around the country. Blackpool North is roughly a 10 minute walk from the Winter Gardens.

Blackpool North is also connected to other major rail hubs throughout the north and features direct trains from the likes of Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, Preston, and Leeds.

Travelling by Air

If guests are wishing to fly, Manchester Airport is the closest major airport with the best transport links into Blackpool.

Direct trains run from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North train stations, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Getting around Blackpool

Blackpool’s public transport network allows easy access to all popular business and leisure destinations.

The area benefits from ample public transport options, including a sleek tram system that has recently received heavy investment, which works alongside Blackpool’s famous heritage tram network.

Blackpool’s public bus network has also recently been upgraded to include a fleet of modern fuel and energy efficient Mercedes Citaro buses, all operated by Blackpool Transport.

The town features attractions such as Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and Blackpool Pier. The town also provides easy access for exploring the beautiful Fylde coast further.

On top of this, there are excellent nightlife options, including many revered bars, pubs, and other entertainment hotspots, such as comedy clubs. The Winter Gardens is also a hub of entertainment activity, with quality events programming taking place across our venues all year round.
