Ground works are now well underway ready for the construction to begin on the new Conference & Exhibition Centre which is set to open in the Spring of 2019. The new venue is the first major development at the Winter Gardens Blackpool since the Opera House was completed in 1939.
The Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre is a brand new, purpose built events venue and will feature state of the art amenities necessary for hosting modern conferences and exhibitions. In isolation the new venue can cater for over 2000 delegates over its 2 floors and when used in conjunction with existing spaces including the Empress Ballroom and Opera House, the capacity will exceed 7000.
Due to be operational in Spring 2019 the new Conference and Exhibition Centre will be integral to Blackpool in reclaiming its position as the UK’s premiere conference and events destination with a reinvigorated business tourism offer unpinned by hundreds of millions of pounds worth of private and public investment in new amenities, upgraded accommodation, improved infrastructure and better transport connectivity.
The first major conference to take place in the new centre has already been announced, one of Britain’s biggest unions GMB announced they would return to Blackpool in 2020 following a 7 year absence. The event which will take place in June 2020 will see bring more than 1000 delegates over five days.
